About Amber Sky.
Amber Sky photography is the name i currently use to promote my photography online. I started in photography over 15 years ago.
My first proper camera was a cheap Canon DSLR. I soon realised that i loved taking pictures and so spent the following years upgrading my equipment and learning as much as i could.
I am also very interested in instant cameras (Polaroid, Fuji), film photography and video work. Over time i have collected quite a few cameras, including yet more Canon’s (5D Mk IV, R6 Mk II), Panasonic Lumix GX80, a number of old Polaroid cameras, Fuji X100, etc etc…
I have been lucky enough to have had some of my pictures feature in international hairdressing competitions, Vogue magazine (wedding feature) and Amateur Photographer magazine. Pictures i have taken for models have also won competitions and many are still used in their online portfolios.
These days, i have moved on from fashion and model photography and now i mostly enjoy street, lifestyle and fine art/abstract themes. This can be very challenging and difficult at times, especially when it comes to taking pictures of strangers out in the streets. However, it is incredibly rewarding.
There is something to be said about photographing the ordinary and mundane. The “boring” scenes and otherwise forgotten moments. This can have a beauty of its own and i have come to enjoy this type of photography. Recently the “wabi sabi” concept has become very popular (a Japanese term that roughly translates to “finding beauty in the imperfect”) and that is something that i find appealing.
Editing is something i love doing. Whether that is enhancing an image just slightly, or colour toning to create a mood or feel. I would say that currently i prefer a lighter touch, sticking mainly to just colour adjustments and small changes.
I hope that you enjoy looking through my portfolios on here and please do leave a comment on my page. I also have a Patreon where i will be posting exclusive images, tutorials, lightroom presets and more, please do feel free to join if you can.
